With only a few days left of our run in NYC, we’re bringing back the piece that inspired the exhibition’s namesake! Sophia Heriveaux, Jean-Michel’s niece, thought of the name during the exhibition’s planning stages.
Jean-Michel created “King Pleasure” in 1987, named after a bebop-loving bartender turned jazz vocalist whose first hit “Moody’s Mood For Love” catapulted him to fame.
Jean-Michel Basquiat, "King Pleasure," 1987.
