Two years ago I recorded this song “East Village” in the room I grew up in in Durham, NC as part of my piano album "City in the Sky." Last month in London, I got an email saying that Drake had sampled “East Village” for his upcoming album with 21 Savage and arranging for me to hear the song. The song “Major Distribution” came out last week and is currently #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. I am so thankful to my first teacher my grandmother Ruth Peck, and my early mentor Yusuf Salim for inspiring me to play piano and write music.
