June 19th is Watch Day, celebrating the watchmaking industry and all its actors. What if watchmaking was invented in the 21st century? How can time be expressed in the most intuitive way ? These are the some of the question that motivated our Founder, Benoit Mintiens, to take in 2010 a completely different approach to the expression of time, which resulted in the Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS). An integral part of Ressence watches’ DNA, the ROCS is present on all our watches, and can display various functions depending on the Type: Minutes, Hours, Day of Week, Runner, Oil Temperature, and more. Every ROCS is driven by the minute axle of the base caliber we specially reinforce and customize. The main disc and the sub discs of the ROCS revolve and orbit around each other, resulting in a dial in perpetual movement, like time. To ensure perfect legibility even in low light conditions, we manually apply grade A SuperLuminova to all our dials, a very meticulous process.
