Tour Blog Post: London, Take 1. I am going out of order because on a day like this, it wasn’t about order it was about reaction and action. When the Philadelphia Orchestra arrived in London, reports were that the Queen was under medical observation and was “resting.” At about 6:45 the orchestra was told the Queen had passed and the concert was cancelled, however the orchestra would still perform the national anthem and ultimately Elgar’s “Nimrod.” Up until this point, the Proms had told me I was not going to be able to photograph any part of the concert, but at this point, everything changed. I continued to document the backstage and then was able to capture images of the roughly 8 minutes of concert and dedication. To be here at this time is surreal. To hear this orchestra play the way they did in a time like this was beautiful.
