Doing it as Whanau - Seeing the love of Te Ao Māori culture being passed down to my tamariki and it flowing so beautifully into our everyday lives and mahi. It’s a gift to watch. I didn’t have this growing up. I wasn’t surrounded by the Reo or the tikanga or the Whanau to support that part of myself. But as a parent I get to do it better. I get to join into the process of ako, to learn and to teach. I have a long long way to go but seeing raranga as a normal part of their lives is a huge win. Beau will point out the flowers on a Harakeke plant to remind me not to harvest from those ones, he will correct the pronunciation of te Reo in those around him, they sing waiata and walk Hikoi with me “fighting with our words and getting in the way so people stop and think about what we are doing”. Mia loves to weave and wear her whakapapa top. What a time to watch our mana as Māori grow and flourish ❤️🖤🤍Also shout out to my mama coming along for the journey and supporting us fully in our reconnection. No matter how many times beau corrects your pronunciation of Koro 😆 I am so grateful you continue to try 🥰
