Reposted from @lsumoa When you visit Mario Moore: Responding to History be sure to pick up a gallery guide to learn more. Works featured in this gallery are a collaboration between Mario Moore and fellow artist and friend, Mark Gibson. Gibson created a drawing based on Moore’s research into the Battle of Antietam, which spearheaded a call and response project. From Gibson’s drawing, Moore responded with his own study sketch and the resulting final artwork, During and After the Battle. After Moore finished his painting, Gibson was inspired to create the ink painting, Battle of Antietam. Take a closer look at the details and meanings of these works in this guide when you visit LSU MOA!
This exhibit was organized by LSU MOA Curatorial Fellow Clarke Brown. During and After the Battle was acquired through the Winifred and Kevin P. Reilly Initiative for Underrepresented Artists.
