Making the most out of a small staircase at home that leads to the lower ground floor... What could be an afterthought instead becomes a beckoning jewel box of colour and pattern. Here, I have used a lightened up version of de Gournay's 'Pomegranates' design which is hand embroidered in silk applique, outlined in golden threads and glass beads, onto a rich linen basecloth. The fabric is stretched onto the walls and ceiling creating a wonderful cocoon.
