Roots 🌳 When I arrived in Los Angeles 7 years ago, I did not have an easy time. A string of financial events lead me to an empty bank account that would place me is some rough circumstances, like going for days without food and even landing me on the streets for a couple nights. I was so determined to not give up on a dream I had committed myself to, that I kept my struggles a secret from friends and family back home. However there was one person who I would turn to, her name is Diane. Diane, was one of the very first people that I met when arriving to Los Angeles. We instantly became friends and training partners, as well as someone I knew I could trust and rely on. I have honestly lost count of the times she has helped me out, whether it was taking me in off the street, taking care of me when I was sick, feeding me when I didn’t have money for food, and the hundreds of other times she has come through for me. Diane who is 56 years old, has inspired the hell out of me as she is someone who started acro much later in life. At 45 years old she began her acro journey as is still, after 11 years of practice open to learning new things. 3 high is something that I’ve been slowly talking her into over the past several months and at our JJ’s annual Christmas Party we finally made it happen! Moments like this always serve as a reminder that you cannot go it alone. Accepting help is a form of strength, which only makes the journey more enjoyable and fulfilling.
