7 years ago, on a whim, I thought I’d try out paragliding. At the time I had no idea that I was about to embark into a world of adventure and passion that would be as outrageous, addictive and life changing as my early years cutting my teeth as a rock climber in Yosemite. This year i had an incredible flying season... with some high highs and low lows. I was proud to participate in one of the most difficult and prestigious paragliding competitions in the world the @xpyrrace and in the process of training managed to fly more 100km flights this year on the online paragliding “xcontest,” then anyone else in the world... with 41 adventures in the 💯s!! I clocked over 10,000 Kms and over 500 hours in the air. I became part bird. For me my proudest accomplishment in the sport came three weeks after a crash landing in the alps that nearly broke my pelvis... when in a 4 day period from my home site of boulder I set 3 new local records including a 250km open distance flight deep into Wyoming on a virgin line that I had always dreamed about exploring on the right day. I battled strong winds and a very technical beginning of the day to pull off an unforgettable flight. For me, the first ascent in rock climbing was always my greatest passion, and it feels really special to be pioneering new lines in a sport that feels to be in it’s golden age here in the United States.
