WHAT IS MY GLUCOSE RESPONSE WHEN I DRINK A SMOOTHIE?! Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m back with my 3rd & final installment of content from my time trying the @nutrisenseio app to track my blood glucose levels & responses throughout the day. Working in diabetes clinic, we often recommend for patients to sometimes check their glucose levels 2 HOURS AFTER a meal to see the response from the meal. The goal is to see how the glucose responds after the meal has been mostly digested. A healthy glucose response 2 hours after the meal is that the levels fall back to or close to fasting levels. For a smoothie, a fiber rich beverage, it is a lot easier for blood sugar balance to be achieved because the fiber blunts the effect of the sugars present that would normally cause more of a spike.
