History is made! Yesterday, the President of the United States signed into law the Camp LeJeune Justice Act, to acknowledge and take accountability for the largest environmental case in this country’s history and bring justice to Marines across the nation, their family members and all the civilians exposed to toxic chemicals in their drinking water during their time at Camp LeJeune, a Marine Corps Base in North Carolina. Hundreds of thousands of servicemen and women have been exposed to contaminated water from 1953-1987 and have suffered from various cancers, Parkinson’s disease, birth defects and other fatal conditions. It took an act of Congress but finally the US government is taking responsibility for this tragedy by signing into law the comprehensive legislature known as the Pact Act allowing our legal system to follow its natural course to get justice for every person that has been affected. Immense gratitude to South Carolina attorney Ed Bell who lead the efforts and has worked tirelessly for decades to bring light to this issue and help veterans get the justice they deserve. It has truly been a blessing and the most humbling experience to work alongside this man, his law firm and my mentor Mirena and our entire team to help pass this bill and create the massive infrastructure needed to help litigate these cases with dignity. There is still a long journey ahead but today marks the beginning of a new chapter, a chapter that brings hope and healing to so many that desperately need it. Semper Fi 🫡
