@andrewsynowiec @seanehurley and I formed a band called Why Dog Why. “Altered Ego” - the first single from our debut album “Songs Without Music” drops this Friday (*actual* 90s music vid forthcoming). @greazywil engineered. @dfthorp mixed. Mastered by @raelynn_jae. The goal was to go into the studio with nothing prepared and write/record as many songs as we could in one day. We completed 4 songs in our first session and decided to book a second session where we completed 4 more songs. Here’s our full *unequivocal* bio 30 years in the making:
Bursting out of Omaha Nebraska's thriving early 90's indie instrumental scene, Why Dog Why quickly became the front runners of a genre that would later be labeled "dad rock." "It's ironic, since we were barely in our teens," says founding member and vocalist Taylor Downs. The vocals didn't last long, however. "The other guys had a sound in their head, and that sound didn't include me." Out of the ashes rose an instrumental power trio mixing equal parts Rush, Black Sabbath and Foo Fighters. After playing their first show at a Moose Lodge in Bennington, the group took off "like a rocket ship bound for Uranus" according to the Omaha Sun. Their debut record "Songs Without Music" was released on Megaforce records in 1992 but quickly went out of print due to the ensuing fallout of the Grunge era. Original pressing CDs were fetching as much as $666.00 on Ebay. In 2022 the group finally regained the rights to their music and re-released it independently on their own "House Of Syn" records.
