A golden glow over an Arctic surf ✨🌊 Pulling the 6mm thick wetsuit over my head I glanced out at the crashing waves. Today, I decided, I would catch my first wave. The rest of the @bluebananabrand crew was from Spain, so they all were well versed in the art of surfing. I, on the other hand, had never touched a board in my life. But when given the opportunity to surf in the Arctic, I figured you had to take it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Marching myself out to the “baby waves” far from where everyone else was surfing, I tried to hype myself up. “It’ll be fine! Only like a 5% chance I drown and I mean I’m a pretty good swimmer” not a great hype up speech if you ask me. But I’m a pretty determined individual so I placed myself right into the icy cold water and proceeded to fail over & over again- paddle out, see a wave, paddle with all my might, try and stand up and then crash. Surfing is tiring when you suck. But an hour in I caught one, stood up, and rode it all the way to the shore. Yep, I was addicted. I spent the next hour trying over and over again only to catch just one more wave. But it was totally worth it, I had accomplished my goal- one wave, and I was (am) proud 🥲
