It must have been 8 years ago when a friend gave me Leonard Cohen's album 'Old Ideas' as a gift. "You have to listen to it with headphones on!" I was told. So there I was, lying on my back, eyes closed, headphones on, as a familiar mysterious deep voice started narrating to me: "I love to speak with Leonard,..." and my life was changed. The song took me by the hand and ushered in a new chapter of my life. Cutting through all the bullshit and reaching the core of my being before I even knew what was happening. One of those songs that introduces you to yourself. For someone to sing to and about himself with such clarity and humor was incredibly inspiring to me. It was the birth of a deep process of self-reflection. To be able to see myself walk through life. To understand why I choose the things I choose. To see clearly why I live the way I live. It turned out to be one of the greatest lessons for me to learn, the only real key to lasting change. And it all started with this simple song by one of my favorite teachers.
