As a pregnant woman and birthing person, I am fully conscious that there is no greater risk than deciding whether or not to bring a human into this world. Choice is a loaded word when Life is in question. When life is brought into question, it seems we as humans forget that choice depends on our ability to determine our life options. Moral decisions often come out of these political moments, and my decision is not to quit the work of social justice because my options at this moment seem abundant. It is vitally important to use this abundance as a resource to spread it across the voiceless and choice-less masses who will need all the support so that, as James Baldwin put so pungently, “the vital interest of the world becomes nothing less than the life of the child.” Yes, there is nothing more sacred than a new Life so let’s create a world of self-determined Choice ♥️
