Excited to share an excerpt from my interview with the OMCA! Thank you for all the hard work that went into producing it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️Link in bio for full interview. EPISODE 2: Artist, designer, and craftsperson @tanyaaguiniga was born in San Diego, California, and raised in Tijuana, Mexico. As a binational citizen who crossed the border daily for school, her work speaks of her divided identity and aspires to tell the larger and often invisible stories of the transnational community. Aguiñiga often works with textiles, drawing upon Mesoamerican weaving and traditional forms to create sculptures, installations, performances, and community-based art projects. Featured in our original exhibition, Hella Feminist, Museoexclusion Exorcism is a mixed media textile installation highlighting pieces from twenty-nine contributors sharing objects and stories made with copal, prehnite, selenite, baking soda, washed and dried eggshells, rock salt, and charcoal. “The aim of this piece is to center the struggles of my femme sisters as a mirror for society to reflect upon, and energetically focus and direct our demands for equality in every space - emotionally, cosmically, physically.” - Tanya Aguiñiga Film by #claudiaescobar
