For today's #NY1at30 photos, we look back at Pope Francis’ visit to the city.
The pope arrived in Manhattan on Sept. 24, where he was greeted by greeted thousands of people along Fifth Avenue before leading evening prayers at St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Over 2,400 people and approximately 1,000 priests attended the service at the historic cathedral.
On his two-day tour in the Big Apple, Pope Francis also visited the United Nations, Madison Square Garden, Central Park and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum before spending the weekend in Philadelphia.
During the pope’s visit to North America — which also included stops in Washington D.C. and Cuba — NY1 and its sister stations launched a 24-hour channel dedicated to news specifically about the pope’s visit.
