What an incredible family dinner celebrating my father. The Polo Bar is one of my fathers favorite restaurants. Some of his favorites are the hamburgers, the dover sole, and the shrimp cocktail. We all went around the table and said something about my father. Everyone spoke about how much my father valued education and empowered women. He educated my mother and my entire family. He would buy us any book at any time. When we got in trouble I had to sit in his den and he’d pull out the etymology of words and he would the genesis of words. He always put his children first, and ensured we had the best education. Here are a few of his sayings I always say “ one more than zero”- meaning just get one thing done, sold, whatever it is. Just start. Family First - no matter what. Our family meant everything. We are his legacy and he wanted us to be close. Parenting isnt easy, and being a strong role model isn’t either. During Jimmy Carter administration when interest rates were 18 percent- my dad took out 3 loans to pay for our college. We as parents make sacrifices every day to ensure our children have more than we had. In the spirit of my father, put your children first. The main ingredients to raising a healthy child: unconditional love, healthy food choices, and reading to your child. I miss you every day, daddy!
