R like Reflection, Reality, Refraction, Recursion, Recording, Repetition, Return, Relation… Come visit the current exhibition ‘Thinking Through Weibel. Beginnings, Diversions, Elsewheres’ and the created open field where inquiry coexists with irreverent disruption, underscoring how creative freedom remains inseparable from sociopolitical stakes. The exhibition is divided across two ­spaces, the left space under the headline “RECHT” and the right space under the “LEFT”, each following distinct conceptual approaches while maintaining continuous exchange. The division is both architectural and methodological, allowing each section to develop its own internal logic while remaining in dialogue with the other and offering a chain of associations for each letter. RECHT (also a reference to Peter Weibels work "Das Recht mit Füßen treten" which leads into the exhibition) studies devices, technical mediation, and the material life of text as they shape perception and legibility. LEFT pursues questions of desire, play, embodiment, territory, and the body’s entanglement with political and affective structures. Here frome the space RECHT: Morehshin Allahyari – The Recitation of a Soliloquy (2012), Short Film, 04:37 min @morehshin This work originates from a paragraph in the artist’s mother’s diary, written during the Iran-Iraq War when she was pregnant. Each word was inscribed 27 times onto 27 frames of 16mm film while a Google Earth projection of Iran illuminated the artist’s face. The piece layers maternal memory, war, and personal history, transforming the written word into a fragile, embodied form of resistance and remembrance. The exhibition gathers works from the Peter Weibel Archive held by the Collection and Archive Institute at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and situates them alongside contemporary practices by Morehshin Allahyari, Nancy Baker Cahill, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Jakob Lena Knebl, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Thania ­Petersen, and Eva Schlegel. @dieangewandte @weibel.institute Curated by Valerie Messini and Brooklyn J.
