Being on this press tour with you for Jurassic has been amazing to see. So much excitement for this film! People waiting outside with their posters, books, artwork for you to sign- They know you by name which, I knew was coming but was freaky to hear because they say it like y’all go way back and that definitely made me wanna get back in the ring to freshen up. Lol. Seriously, I will be starting next Monday. Anyway, it made me start thinking how cool it was to have fans. There are three hundred and thirty million people in the U.S. How many of those people can say they have fans? Not your family or friends who’ve had time to get to know you but strangers who had an experience of you that you were unaware of and said I wanna take the time to look you up, go on Instagram and like every single pic, send supportive comments and sometimes send some borderline crossing dm’s. That doesn’t sound too bad. How many people in your family can you say have fans? Seriously, it’s rare. So many people wanna be seen and appreciated and you have that. Seeing people see you and applaud you for what you’ve achieved gives me joy. Pure joy. That sitting with a big bowl of cereal watching Saturday cartoons kinda joy. I always thought I was your number one fan. Your mom would say she is but, I do that thing you like... so clearly I’m your biggest fan. But you know, over the years of being with you, I just realized that I’m not a fan. It feels so... everybody. I’m a fanatic. Then I thought, “well that’s not healthy. Guess I gotta push that therapy session up.” But then I thought... why do we automatically think in the most extreme. A Gollum like creature freakishly crouched in a corner drooling over a ring. When I say fanatic, I don’t mean you’re an idol that I worship. I mean that I am extremely enthusiastic and devoted, specifically in seeing you soar. It’s an addiction. Like plantains, I can eat them everyday. If I could, I would come back as an animal who would only eat ripe. fried. plantains. That’s how much I enjoy seeing you grow into you. I’m so excited for the world to finally see what I’ve been saying since the day I met you. “You different”. Happy birthday mi amor.
