& @diokaminaris present the ORIGINAL SHOT of January 11, 2023 🪨 SUSPENDED IN THE AIR The Meteora monasteries have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and the Meteora-Antichassia region has been officially declared a Natura 2000 Ecological Zone by the Greek Ministry of Environment, for the protection of rare species of birds and flowers. The six active monasteries appear a magical atmosphere on the cliffs of Meteora. In essence, Meteora today preserves a 2000-year tradition of orthodoxy. Today, of the original 24 monasteries, only 6 remain active. Two of the six monasteries (I.M. Agios Stefanos and I.M. Rousanos) are inhabited by nuns and the other four by monks. In total today approx are about 50 nuns and 17 monks in Meteora.
