Scaring children, on purpose, is not funny. I said it. Our kids look to us for protection and support, and when we scare children for a laugh, we send them mixed signals. ✨ “Will I be supported when things feel different?” ✨ “Why do they laugh when I’m scared?” ✨ “Am I safe around them?” Instead, I want children to feel safe and respected. There are a bunch of ways we can model respect. We often call children “tiny humans” because it’s important to remember that they are, in fact, humans. They have feelings, opinions, boundaries, and ideas. We can show them they’re worthy of those things. What does this bring up for you?
