It’s not talked about enough how the impact of external stress anxiety all going through a period of rough mental health can affect our training and how we perform if we have a comp or a race.
I had a funny old time doing Hyrox last week and I’ve spoken about it at length on this week’s podcast. My race experience was probably the strangest one I’ve ever had, my body felt like it was going through the motions, but my brain was disconnected from it, and a nervous system was so regulated. I ended up spending a lot of time just trying to stay a little bit more calm.
So whilst I had a fairly enjoyable racing day doing my first Hyrox Pro, it wasn’t exactly the race or performance I expected. And I’ll definitely need to be going back for a redo at some point this year.
Has anyone else ever experienced this in a race format? Brains are funny old things aren’t they!
