This is not the news I wanted to share but I promised I would be open about my TTC journey.
Jake and I found out we were 4 weeks pregnant on July 1st with our second pregnancy. We were so excited but extremely nervous due to our previous ectopic pregnancy (where I lost my right fallopian tube) in December. Three days ago we went in for our 6 week ultrasound and were told we were having another ectopic pregnancy. This time not in my fallopian tube but in the cornua of my uterus. An ectopic pregnancy in this area is very rare and can have higher mortality rates compared to other ectopic pregnancies due to the high risk of a uterine rupture and severe hemorrhage. I was sent in for emergency surgery that same day to remove the pregnancy and part of my uterus.
Ectopic pregnancies can be life threatening and urgent treatment is crucial for the safety of the mother. Some symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are abdominal pain, bleeding, shoulder pain, dizziness. This post isn’t meant to scare people who are trying to conceive but to educate. Just a reminder ectopic pregnancy’s occur in only 1-2% of all pregnancies and are very very rare.
I am so lucky to have again caught this before any rupturing occurred and am grateful the surgery went well. I’m not going to lie and say I’m feeling okay. I’m feeling angry, confused, and sad, but I have such an amazing support system by my side and I’m so appreciative of my husband, family and friends. As Professor Dumbledore has said “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light” 🙂
I know going through pregnancy loss can feel very lonely, but there are so many people going through something similar. It can be scary to open up about pregnancy loss but it helps me process my emotions and it allows others to feel less alone and more comfortable to speak about their experiences. If you have any questions or want to share your story I’m here to listen. 🫶
