We met Winston the first night of our trip in the parking lot of the Super 8 in Front Royal, VA. We should have known this mismatched rider in a full set of Triumph gear riding a BMW R9T Urban GS was meant to be. I temporarily forget my distain for the engine that destroyed my ankle and ask, "Where are you coming from?" to which he replies, "Brooklyn!". I say something like "Holy shit me too! What time did you leave... ONE O'CLOCK?!? GOD DAMN ME TOO!" We rant about the traffic, the rain and the all out marathon we had on 78 and 81 over beers and whiskey that night. There is an odd courtship that happens between men at bars and gas stations on the road that therapists only dream about.
