The Trump administration has directed ICE to pause raids against workers in the agriculture, hotel and restaurant industries.
A senior ICE official sent a message to regional leaders on Thursday saying, “Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels.”
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed the shift on deportation policies in a statement, saying, “We will follow the President's direction and continue to work to get the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens off of America's streets."
The move follows several weeks of increased enforcement since White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, said ICE officers would focus on at least 3,000 arrests a day.
