During this election week I have received a massive influx of DMs from all political walks who just wanted to feel safe within their families. Many of the messages volatile in a way my friend told me recently can best be described as “I hate You! Don’t leave me!” Way. So many beings are trying to navigate the complexity that lies within the gravity of the fear of repercussions which comes with voting. For my form of activism times like these are tricky because everyone has the right to be angry. To not want to reach across the aisle. To find bravery, pride and power in saying “I’m not going to talk this out. You made Your choice. You lost. Now suffer.” It’s been a physically painful experience- I definitely dipped into some whiskey and went radio silent as I did my communications work quietly in the background. I just want everyone to know that there’s real valid fear and anguish in the world right now. YES. And we can not tolerate bigotry. Ever. I also want You know though- that people are reaching out. They are trying to learn. Grow. Understand. Make amends. And they are afraid to even try. But when they do it’s powerful. Important. And makes the world a safer place. Ultimately what I’m saying is that while there is chaos- there is also hope right now. Bright, brilliant, constant and powerful hope. Change is not coming- it’s here. It’s happening.
