Promoting body positivity in pageantry isn’t always positive. The amount of people, especially in the pageant world, that do not want to see plus sized women on big pageant stages is still staggering. There is still a huge wall to having plus sized women on these stages and even more so, actually winning the title. Whether spoken or unspoken, the desire to still have pageantry remain “the same” is great. But that does not mean we stop. It means that we continue to show up and show that this is the future of pageantry, because health looks different on every BODY, and the standard of a size 0 being automatically equivalent to health needs to be dismantled.
