Surmounted only by latillas (juniper or alder branches), the Roofless Room provides a perfect backdrop to O’Keeffe’s sculpture, Abstraction, 1946. In addition to being an accomplished painter, Georgia O’Keeffe was also a skilled sculptor. “Abstraction, 1946” embraces her fascination with shapes, continuity, and organic forms. O’Keeffe created a very radical sculpture that imbues with balance and harmony allowing the viewer to take control of what you see. As O’Keeffe would say, take time to look.
