🇺🇸 Honoring Veterans Day 🇺🇸 Today, on Veterans Day, Soroptimist International of Valencia honors the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of all who have served. As we pay tribute to our veterans, we also recognize the remarkable history of women in the military—a journey that spans over a century and has paved the way for equality and service. Women in Military History Women have played essential roles in U.S. military history, often fighting for the right to serve. During the Civil War, women worked as nurses and spies. In World War I, they officially joined the military as nurses and clerks, marking the beginning of their formal roles in service. By World War II, women stepped up in greater numbers, with more than 350,000 serving as pilots, mechanics, and members of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC), paving the way for future generations. Today, women serve in every branch and hold leadership roles, breaking down barriers and strengthening our armed forces. On this Veterans Day, we honor not only the legacy of all service members but also the contributions of pioneering women who fought for the opportunity to protect our country.
