It was complete serendipity that I was brought on to style Young the Giant for their magnum opus of an album American Bollywood. And how appropriate to have a Pakistani designer help create a stylistic language for a band that is telling the tales of partition between India 🇮🇳 and Pakistan 🇵🇰. Our clothes tell our stories, I wanted the styles to convey the story of India 🇮🇳 and Pakistan 🇵🇰 If partition is the tale of two countries falling apart, then this would be the story of them coming back together on a rock and roll stage. Being from Lahore, I am deeply connected to its creative community, I reached out to designers in Pakistan, the amazing @znali and his brand @znali.co to help me create custom fits for the band. On India side my good friend @seemahari and the Indian designer @dushyantasthana and his brand @dushyant.la to help build a whole new stylistic language for the band. Inspired by 70s Jazz in Karachi, Pakistan 🇵🇰 to 100 year old block printing techniques in India 🇮🇳 and the contemporary rock and roll vibes of America, the new YTG styles are all telling our collective South Asian story. It has been surreal to watch YTG perform to sold out shows all over America vibing out to all my vibes.
