The Mutants are back...Baby! Twenty years ago, when some little-known record exec named David Byrne (along with Brazilian Beco Dranoff) first compiled this record, the idea of doing a psychedelic album from outside the U.S. or Europe was pretty much unheard of. This retrospective changed that—and it’s the reason that Os Mutantes has, in the years since, had an influence on psychedelic and pop culture too great to quantify.
