In the 1940s my grandfather left Mexico for America to work in the fields of Bakersfield and Fresno.
A decade later Dolores Huerta (along with Cesar Chavez) would improve the conditions for those farm workers. It was a difficult battle, and one she continues even today at 90.
To celebrate Father’s Day I could think of no better guest on @talkeasypod. What she means to my family and the Latino community... there aren’t enough words. She’s selfless in her fight for people. Tireless.
Her work has made my father’s work possible. Hell, she’s made my work possible. So thank you Dolores. My only hope is that I’m as spirited and thoughtful at 90 as you are.
