Over the summer Whitechapel Gallery put out an open call for the position of Young Writer in Residence, inviting emerging writers aged between 18-24 to apply with a short original piece of writing which responded to The London Open. After great deliberation, we are delighted to announce that Yulin Huang has been appointed as our first-ever Young Writer in Residence. Yulin was selected by a panel including journalist @preciousadesina, and writer @egarreal. Yulin’s residency runs from September – December 2022, and will see her commissioned to create a new short piece of writing, programme an event for young creatives, and be supported to develop her practice.
