Hyrox gets hate for being ‘low skill’ - but that’s exactly what I think makes it great. Low skill doesn’t mean ‘bad’.
👋🏻 The low barrier to entry isn’t a weakness, it’s the whole point.
Yes the topless guys, noisy environment and fast times can be intimidating, but no one talks about how there is no time cap. You don’t have to destroy yourself. You can go at YOUR pace and still complete a Hyrox.
💡There aren’t any standards to enter, you just train and show up where you’re at fitness wise and do your best.
As a 34 year old non-binary person competing in women’s pro, I’ve found my place in this space and there’s room for you too if you wanted to enter one. They’ve got adaptive categories, doubles, relays, and singles.
➡️ Is it perfect? No. Ideally they would give us a non-binary category and more guidance on adaptive movement standards. But it’s given me incredible training goals and race experiences and as the sport continues to grow in popularity, it is a great marker for challenging your fitness.
We need more representation at the leisurely level, not just the elite one. So I hope me yapping about it a little more helps bring that barrier to entry down.
👀 If this resonated, and you want to try out lift fit and run program (not Hyrox specific) you can give my ‘Hybrid Awakening’ program a bash. It’s for complete beginners that want to try out lifting and running sustainably, and need a structured and simple beginner program to take all the guess work out.
Comment ‘AWAKE’ on this post and I’ll send you the details.
