Recently, I was on a morning hike in the hills of Malibu. It was a gloomy morning, and there was a thick layer of fog covering the hiking path ahead. I couldn’t see where the path was taking me. Yet, I continued on and finished the hike.
Why? Because although I couldn’t see where the path was taking me, I trusted and believed it would lead me where I needed to be. I believed the path would take me to the end of the hike — to an opening in the hills where a view of the ocean better than anything I could’ve imagined would meet my eyes — free of any fog blocking my view.
So you might be on an unpaved path — unsure, anxious, and worried about where life is taking you. You might even want to turn around and hop off the path you’re on now. But perhaps you shouldn’t. Perhaps the beauty of life isn’t found in turning around or hopping off the path. Perhaps the beauty of life is found in learning to find peace in your next uncertain, yet faithful step forward.
Remember what God has done in your life and continue to trust in His path — patiently waiting for the fog to clear — faithfully waiting for His plans you’ve so beautifully been trusting in to come to joyful fruition.
