Today is the day I have dreaded for months. As I watched the fathers day merchandise fill the shelves, I was painfully reminded that you weren’t here anymore. This is the first Father’s Day without you daddy and it just doesn’t feel right. Even though I am heartbroken you aren’t here today, I am so grateful for all the good Father’s Days we had. When you passed in January, I discovered that you had kept every Father’s Day card we had ever given you and I’m so happy you did. There are so many things I can remember you for — your amazing cooking skills, your love for hunting, golf and fishing, your corny dad songs, the dozens of meals we ate together at Zipps, the nicknames you made up for Kaiya Trendon and I and so much more. Today and always, I remember you first as my dad. Our relationship was never perfect, but damn was it special. I love you forever, daddy. Happy heavenly Father’s Day.🤍
