At Black Mountain College in the 1940s, Anni Albers wove a scarf for her friend Mary Louise Hay Cooley, who lived nearby with her husband and three children. Over the years, the family carefully kept Anni's note and scarf, such that the fibers continue to shine in radiant condition. The Cooley family generously donated the scarf to the Albers Foundation on the occasion of the exhibition "Anni Albers: Work with Materials" at Syracuse University Art Museum, on view through December 11. "To Mrs. Cooley with best wishes for a good Christmas and the hope that you can use this scarf which I wove. Very sincerely yours Anni Albers" ...
