#taste with @sammelier949 • A Wine Worth Pontet-ficating About I love the wine from Château Pontet-Canet from Pauillac in Bordeaux France, so I was thrilled when our friends @sonaws and @its_su_k.r.i.t popped open a 2008 vintage on an evening that had already begun with a delicious 2008 Kistler Pinot Noir that I wrote about in a recent post. I called this evening, “A Date With 2008!” 🤩 This 2008 Château Pontet-Canet Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot making up the rest, had a deep purple color with maroon reflections on the rim! 😍 Aromas and flavors of red and black fruit, cedar, dark chocolate and herbs enveloped by a distinct minerality jumped out of the glass. 😋 The succulent tannins and great acidity created the perfect path for a long dry finish. 🤤 The Château’s Biodynamic Journey: In 2004 the first biodynamic trial took place on 14 hectares, a first for a Médoc Classified Growth. The wines of Château Pontet-Canet obtained organic certification from Ecocert and biodynamic certification from Biodyvin in 2010 and from Demeter in 2014. 👏🏼 I had the pleasure of meeting Alfred Tesseron at a Pontet-Canet wine tasting at Hi-Times Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, California a few years back and I look forward to visiting the château in the future. 🤞🏼 I have been lobbying Justine Tesseron, Alfred’s wonderful daughter, to have her father adopt me so I can drink their wonderful wine everyday, but I haven’t made any headway! 😜 I have not given up yet! If I am anything, it’s persistent. 💪🏼😂 Kudos to the Tesseron family for their commitment to biodynamic practices that keep planet earth’s best interests in mind!
