These are outtakes from the album cover, initially taken as part of a sprawling shoot @maclayheriot and I did with @allthreeheathers in December 2020. It’s surreal to think these photos are almost 2 years old and I’m only sharing the bulk of them now. That is a long time to wait even by music industry standards and is indicative of what a drawn-out process making and releasing ‘izzi’ has been. What’s also crazy is that I’m 14 weeks pregnant with Mina in all these shots, and so every time I look at the cover of my album, she’s right there with me, which is so special, and how cool that I got to catch that time in my life as I transitioned from maiden to mother and birthed a new record at the same time. The process of making this album has taught me so much patience. And also to follow my own impulses and sense of timing on things. This shoot was pulled together very spur of the moment, I did my own hair and makeup, we used a collection of my own clothes and @allthreeheathers’ idiosyncratic pulls and additions, and there were only the 3 of us in the studio. I chose the cover image because it was all the class I wanted but the pose also felt kinda off and weird too. Something classic with a hint of twisted... and I was very set on Cerulean blue so Maclay found this beautiful backdrop.
