This is my friend @thejuanmaclean . We met at a backyard barbecue in Brooklyn years ago. A space filled with attractive, odd, mostly queer hipsters, aka, my friend group . Juan showed up with his girlfriend and i couldn’t really get a read on him at first. Fast forward 10 minutes where the majority of barbecue attendees are grilling vegan burgers and dancing to Peaches... while Juan and I are now calmly but intimately engaged in a back and forth about our experience with depression, suicidal ideation, and plant medicine over the course of our young and adult lives . and i was like fuck, i found a keeper . Outside of being an absolute fucking banger of a DJ in top of the line clubs, he also is a fucking spiritual boss that bangs on gongs and plays little wooden flutes in a way that makes my soul connect with the world around me. He and @gregdroggitis founded a beautiful experience called @infinity__machine and when Juan asked me to come participate i was smitten. They are wildly wildly impactful and enjoyable psilocybin experiences that these 2 curate with mind bending and soul opening sound . I was hired as a papa bear for these events, and if you know me at all, you already know i’m smiling ear to ear as i type this. Because as 30 beautiful fucking creatures, in their own place of pain or confusion or betterment, fill a small space and take some plant medicine on this sound journey, i get to sit in the back and take care of everyone.
