Happy Squiggle Sunday, lovelies! 🎨🦋 This Sunday video is dedicated to @vanessacarltonactual 🎨: @sunshinethebee I was eleven years old when Vanessa Carlton released her Rabbits On The Run album and I have not been the same ever since. I truly believe that I would not be who I am today without this album. Vanessa’s voice is pure magic and her lyrics are so beautifully written. Her storytelling throughout this album especially was top notch. I would listen to this album while crying my heart out. While I admit that I was too young to relate to many of the adult themes, I deeply felt the emotions that her songs exuded. This could be due to my dramatic “main character” personality that has only developed more as the years go by, but I’d prefer to think it’s due to the ethereal talent that Vanessa embodies. I’d feel the urge to scream to the sky due to the loneliness I felt. To dance to get rid of the growing pains because as we all know, middle school is rough. And most importantly, I’d be swept into a dreamlike trance romanticizing how amazing the world really is, even when my personal life doesn’t feel dreamy at all. Being a preteen with a lot of hormones and mixed emotions really made this album hit for me. Her music has only aged like a fine wine now that I’m 10 years older and can relate to the themes of heartbreak, freedom, release, and forgiveness. Repeat repeat repeat.
