Yes, it’s theoretically true that blending food will help your body harvest the nutrients easier because it grinds the sugars from the fibres. But bananas aren’t particularly high in fibre anyway so the difference would be pretty negligible and even for fruit that is high in fibre, I wouldn’t expect it to be the cause of weight gain at ALL. The more likely reason for a calorie surplus or weight gain on a smoothie diet is that you can pack in calories in a smoothie than if you attempt to eat all that fruit.
