The recent news might have brought up a lot of feelings for you around grief and loss.
Events like the passing of Queen Elizabeth II can start a conversation about death that you might not have otherwise had or can trigger feelings of grief and bereavement that you thought were long behind you. Our community feels like it jolted a little last Thursday – and that can be disconcerting. Particularly if you’re affected by cancer yourself or a loved one is.
Death and loss – whether it’s someone you don’t know but feel connected to, or someone very close to you – can bring back memories of bereavement or make end of life care and treatment feel particularly hard.
We understand. And there is a whole community of organisations that you can refer to for support (see details below).
Honouring and remembering is an important part of the bereavement journey – that doesn’t mean it’s easy and it’s often unexpected and hard to navigate.
The loss and grief left after death is immeasurable, but so are the memories and love that are left behind.
At Team Eve, we are committed to spreading awareness of gynaecological cancers, and pushing towards prevention and earlier diagnosis so that cancers can become a thing of the past.
Remember, if you are worried about a gynae cancer issue or concern, you can contact Ask Eve our nurse information service: [email protected] or telephone 0808 802 0019
For questions about end of life care and cancer you can get in touch with the wonderful people at Marie Curie: 0800 090 2309
And the incredible team at Cruse Bereavement Support are there for you – no matter how recent or long ago your bereavement was: 0808 808 1677
