Neck tension - most of us have it, and most of us seemingly canβt get rid of it. We have some ideas on how to help!πππ
Start with muscle scraping. The sternocleidomastoid, trapezius, and deep neck flexors, among others, are commonly the source of pain and tension in your neck. Scraping brings new blood flow which releases tension and passively warms up your muscles. Scrape with moderate (but not painful) pressure for 30-45 seconds, or until redness appears, whichever comes first.
After the warm up, move on to strength. Weak and injured muscles have to work exponentially harder to carry out regular tasks, which causes them to be overworked constantly. Overworked = stiff and tight. Perform 2-4 sets of 8-12 reps of strength exercises 3-4 times per week, make sure to give yourself 24 hours between sessions to let your muscles recover.
Finish with stretching. Stretching is essential for preventing excess tension and maintaining range of motion at your joints. Hold each stretch for about 30 seconds on each side, repeating AT LEAST once a day.
