TW: hate crime, death threat ⚠️ **We are all safe and good before I continue ** I’d like to adress something that happened to me and my sisters on August 15th. @chiquita.mere @barbra_wire @samilandri @heathersilksays and I were ask to be part of the big Quinzou show to do lip sync and for myself to host the show. We went on the site around 4h that day to get ready, do our sound checks and then participate to the tintamarre. 🎉 Unfortunately there was some delay so we couldn’t make it to the tintamarre. We stayed backstage and waited for the tintamarre to arrived on site. While the tintamarre was coming, we were having fun. I was on ‘’stand by 2 minutes’’ before going on stage. Just before I go on stage, the Acadie Rock’s team brought me in the tent to tell me that they received serious threat made against the drag performers; life threatening kinda situation. We decided to cancel my first apparition on stage for safety purposes. The police was called and while the police was investigating, my sisters and I talked with Acadie Rock to find a plan B on how to host and perform without being on stage for the time the police officers do their job. we did find a great plan B, it worked well and later we got told we could go on stage if we wanted and feel safe. We seriously talked about what we wanted to do We did go on stage We did put on an amazing show Why? Because representation matters and it was important for us and Acadie Rock to be there. While we did our job and had fun, we were still anxious, we were still stressed. Especially because our families and friends were in the crowd. A life threatening situation is scary and horrifying. And all of this because we have make up and wigs?! IT IS CRAZY. IT IS STILL HAPPENING. IT IS A HATE CRIME AGAINST OUR COMMUNITY. Even thi we live in Canada, lgbt+ community still faced violence, threats and abuse. @acadierock did an amazing job protecting us, supporting us and make sure it was the safest place for us during the whole festival. To my drag sisters, be always careful. To the public, please support and love your local performers. We are working hard.
