🥁 Drumroll please....on #nationalphilanthropyday we're proud to announce the next brilliant researcher in our 2023 Powered by Pablove lineup!🔎 Meet Dr. Tiburcio at University of Texas, Southwestern Dallas, Texas. 🥽 Her project focuses on Wilms Tumor, the most common pediatric kidney cancer. Fortunately 90% of children with #wilmstumor survive 5 years after diagnosis, however, 15% experience relapse, and once this happens, about half of them will likely not recover. Currently, *no studies* have found an effective approach to overcome chemotherapy resistance....until now!📣 With her Powered by Pablove funding, Dr. Tiburcio will explore ways to overcome resistance to dactinomycin, one of the main drugs used for Wilms Tumor and other pediatric cancers. Early data indicates that existing drugs called mTOR and proteasome inhibitors may decrease resistance to #dactinomycin.🔬 She will examine these drugs in combination with dactinomycin to understand their potential for treatment of Wilms Tumor and other #pediatriccancers.🎯 We are so proud to be able to fund Dr. Tiburcio's pioneering research! 💡 Thank you to our friends at Gentleman Toker who generously funded this grant in honor of Michelle Laderman. 💛
