We are heading back up to Alaska for today’s #FundedProjectFriday! The #granteespotlight is on Conservation Alliance grantee @wecan_intl. Grantee: Women's Earth and Climate Action Network Location: Alaska Prior Funding? We funded the Women's Earth and Climate Action Network for the first time in 2021. About the Grantee, in their own words: Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) is a climate justice-based organization established to unite women in movement building for ecological and social justice. Our primary work is with women (and their communities) on the frontlines of climate change and environmental degradation; specifically, Indigenous women, women of color, low-income and underserved communities. It is also essential as we work for environmental protection to work with government and business decision-makers, so we engage women at the highest levels of government and business. What was the most recently funded project all about? Women for Forests: Tongass Protection: To permanently protect 9.2 million acres of Alaska’s Tongass National Forest from extractive industries by reinstating the 2001 Roadless Rule and passing the federal Roadless Area Conservation Act (RACA) 📸: Katherine Quaid #wekeepitwild
