Tuesday’s election results showed us that Democrats can only get so far with a negative vision - “vote to defeat Lee Zeldin.” We need a positive vision that speaks to what NYers are concerned about—especially rising rents & the climate crisis—and we must implement it as soon as we get back to Albany. In NYC, rents are up over 30% in a year. 50k people have been evicted from Jan to June 2022. 104k kids are homeless. So it makes sense that 75% of NYers across the state are worried about rising rents & 67% support passing Good Cause Eviction to address it. And with climate, over 68% of NYers voted for the state to spend $4.2 billion to take action on climate change. That's a bigger constituency than any one party We must heed the call and pass the Build Public Renewables Act. Every day that we don't, we miss out on millions on dollars from the Inflation Reduction Act.
