#MahsaAmini The events in Iran are a true cry from the heart of a nation fighting for women’s basic rights and the end to an evil regime. As this tyrannical force attempts to bully protesters by shutting people off from each other and the world, I feel it is our turn to reach out to light the beacons of solidarity for them all. Not only in Tehran, but in all places where such atrocities against basic human rights are occurring globally. When I contemplate about what happened to #mahsaamini, a young woman murdered at 22 because of her hair... What if it was my child? What emotions would flood my being? Be it a daughter in Tehran, or equally if it were a son killed in the Ukraine for that matter. Heartbreaking all the useless wasteful loss of innocent lives all over the world, where the vile instinct of violence emerges; it shrinks us all back into dark places as human beings. So here is something which I feel speaks of this moment for the women of Iran. Sol created this solo in our ballet “Softly, as I leave you” many years ago. It was her own first real steps to speak personally about femininity in our creative space. She explored her strength and resolve, as well as her vulnerability. Here, the world premiere in 1994; Sol #solleon inside the box, dancing a poetic metaphor to life with all its restraints and possibilities. This is for you, valiant women of Iran. For your fight for the right to choose. For freedom from this madness. You are not alone. Music: Kyrie Eleison from Arvo Pärt. #womenofIran #humanrights #therighttochoose #whatiswromgwiththeworld
